The Carolyn Turner Company

Executive business coach: Transforming lives one business at a time.

Biography

I love what I do. I get to be witness to an amazing process every day. People start to uncover what it is they truly love and what they truly want to do. In that process, something amazing is created in the world. All of a sudden, there’s a business that’s flourishing that didn’t exist three months before. All of a sudden, there’s a business that was doing okay but is now doing better than anyone thought possible. All of a sudden, someone knows exactly what it is he or she needs to do.

Of course we know it isn’t “all of a sudden.” But it does seem that when clients find me, they are often confused, a little discouraged, and a little lost. We start working together and very quickly a way forward starts coming into focus. Once that happens, it isn’t very long until a new business is in the world, or a current business is transformed in a way that’s far more interesting and lucrative. Someone starts to find that path that’s just right for them. It’s so much fun to watch that happen!

I spent nearly 20 years working in the cell phone industry in Corporate America. I actually liked much of what I did. Corporations are entities, too, and when they’re healthy and doing what they’re here to do, they can be amazing places to be. There’s lots of energy and creativity. Things that no one thought possible are created right and left. You’re surrounded by very bright, very talented people. There are lots of challenges but lots of successes, too. I learned a tremendous amount, was challenged in ways I didn’t even know were possible and discovered I had many talents and skills I didn’t know I had.

Somewhere along the line, though, that niggling voice started inside me, telling me there might be something different somewhere else, something that might be even better than what I was doing right then. I tried to appease the voice. I got a new, bigger job at the same company. I changed departments. I got a bigger team of people. I went on vacation (cooking school in Italy – highly recommended!).  Despite all my best efforts, that voice just kept getting louder until I couldn’t tune it out anymore. I finally thought I would just take some time off and then I would figure out what was next. So, I did, and wandered around trying to figure out what the next thing would be that would be truly, deeply meaningful for me. I’m still embarrassed to say all the things I tried!

What I finally discovered was that there is a way to find out what that deeply meaningful expression in the world is. It just requires a willingness to listen to that niggling voice inside you. To really listen.

Now, I get to help people like you find your own way oh-so-much faster than I did and with some company along the way to let you know you’re not alone. To let you know that what you have to do is important.

It is worth my time and yours.
